For export only: BMW 518i, © BMW AG
The BMW 518i was only an export model for Japan and Sweden but never available at the German market. The Japanese model was fitted with automatic transmission as standard and were delivered with tyre in dimension 195/70 SR 14. At this car you see the additional turn signal warts like the ones from the US model.
At the Swedish model you must separate the BMW 518i and the BMW 518i Luxus (called at the beginning BMW 520i Luxus) which was fitted with more equipment: central locking, power steering, tinted windows all around, manual sliding roof, chromed rim rings and rear headrests. All BMW 518i had a K-Jetronic fuel injection
Remark: In 1978 a BMW 518i appeared on the Swedish market, but this was a BMW 520i with a poorer equipment. In 1979 only BMW sold the models BMW 520i/BMW 520i Luxus with the 1.8 litre engine. This cars are BMW 518i with optional extras as standard.
